Der Kunst- und Skulpturenweg Purple Path entstand als ein wesentliches Element der Europäischen Kulturhauptstadt Chemnitz 2025. Zehntausende begeisterte Besucherinnen und Besucher kamen ins Erzgebirge, nach Mittelsachsen und ins Zwickauer Land und genossen Landschaft, Kultur und zeitgenössische Kunst. Heute versammeln sich mehr als 50 permanent platzierte Kunstwerke in Chemnitz und 38 Kommunen in einem Freilichtmuseum „in öffentlichen Räumen“. Die Friends of the Purple Path e.V., eine Gruppe von Enthusiasten und Artlovern, fördern und unterstützen die entstandene Kunstsammlung. Sie organisieren kuratorische Führungen, bringen interessierte Menschen zusammen und realisieren eigene kulturelle Ereignisse.

The Purple Path art and sculpture trail was created as a key element of Chemnitz’s designation as European Capital of Culture 2025. Tens of thousands of enthusiastic visitors came to the Ore Mountains, Central Saxony, and the Zwickau region to enjoy the landscape, culture, and contemporary art. Today, more than 50 permanently installed artworks in Chemnitz and 38 municipalities form an open-air museum “in public spaces.” The Friends of the Purple Path e.V., a group of enthusiasts and art lovers, promote and support the resulting art collection. They organize curated tours, bring interested people together, and host their own cultural events.
